Impact: Women Behind the Wheel restarts, after publication of 285 South story
"We are incredibly grateful."
Dear 285 South readers,
On Wednesday, 285 South published a story about how Women Behind the Wheel, a driving lesson program for immigrant and refugee women here in Metro Atlanta, had to pause due to a lack of funding.
I know that many of you clicked the donate link in the article.
Well, you certainly made a difference. Sarah Karim, the executive director of the nonprofit Ethaar which operates the program, said they’ve seen a big uptick in donations since the article went live.
Women Behind the Wheel now has enough money to start up again.
“It will move slowly, but at least we are up and running.” said Karim on Thursday evening. “We are incredibly grateful.”
Happy Friday, you all are amazing.
